基础神经科学

This course is designed for wide appeal. It is an introduction to structure and function of the brain and spinal cord, and how nerves function and communicate. The basics of movement, sensation, language, 情感, and consciousness are discussed. Emphasis is placed on contrasting normal function with altered function in diseases.

BIO423 Neurobiology of Mental 健康

The course explores advanced topics in neurodevelopment, 神经传递, 神经可塑性, and cognition through the lens of mental health, using neurological diseases such as depression and schizophrenia, as examples of pathophysiological processes underlying mental illness. 神经生物学机制, 临床表现, and therapeutic interventions 将被讨论, with emphasis on 神经药理学 and mental health.

BIO487神经病理学

科学馆 is Chatham’s 10,000 square-foot laboratory building, 以实验室为特色, 教室, 以及专门的研究空间. A range of equipment is available for student use during courses and faculty-led projects, including tissue culture facilities, 荧光显微镜, 综合plate-reader, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, and 计算模型 systems.

In addition to giving students curricular laboratory experience and opportunities to perform faculty-guided independent research, Chatham offers funding to provide neuroscience students with money to travel to professional conferences and support their summer research.

Qualified students from the biology program can be admitted early to Chatham's Master of Arts in Biomedical Studies program, saving money and speeding time towards graduation with two degrees.
